Sat Nav

Post by markweems » Wed Apr 12, 2006 4:34 pm

Can somebody help me please. Got ym RS4 2 weeks ago and am struggling with the "TMC" function within the Sat Nav. Thie icon constantly has a line through it but still receive traffic reports etc. When I press the info button it constantly says no TMC traffic reports available? How do I switch this function on?

Thanks

You cant.... No TMC is available in the UK yet, I don't think, we RNS-E owners need a disc with TMC software which isn't available in the UK*.

* I may me talking bollocks, an expert will be along shortly, please hold the line.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Nope, all bollocks correct sir....

No TMC available in the UK yet, take a trip to europe if you want to see that line go away.

Typical Audi, why have a potential feature built into a £50k + car that UK drivers cannot use! Yes the feature is available on a £500 Tom Tom!!

I think this is a ongoing issue with Audi Sat Nav systems, not sure but I think BMW ones in the UK work..... come`on Audi.

Mine did something similar on the Rangey.......... once I sellected Classic FM as one of my stored stations, the line went away, on low and behold, on a trip up the M5/M6 last week, it worked perfectly warning of hold ups, road works and road closure at one point due to an accident.

Have only had my S4 for 2 monts and have the CD based Sat Nav plus - but it also has the TMC function - the CD is also the TMC edition.

As Simple1 has pointed out you need to enter classic FM as the radio station in the TMC set up screen, and have TP turned on.

As to how it actually works or if it works i havent got a clue, been trying to find out but no luck yet - manual isnt much help either.

All I can add is that TMC is available in the UK. You have to tune to Classic FM, they are the only people that broadcast it here. My BMW Aga worked perfectly, including in France

You need a TMC enabled Disc and Audi simply don't seem to have one yet!!! Bloody, bloody annoying!!!! The hardware part seems fine.... TMC on the B5 with the Teleatlas TMC enabled disc was great.
