Post by nemo » Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:30 pm

i allready have a full miltek exhaust what bhp could i dream of if i upgraded to rs4 turbos , and what would a game plan be
i know its engine out what should i do whilst engine is out
and what should i plan to do after after on a tight budget
i have enough dosh saved for rs4 turbos and intercoolers should i upgrade to rs4 engine mounts whilst im in there or is that a waste of money
PLEASE
some advise from those who have upgraded turbos greatly appreciated
im aiming for a very safe 400 bhp (for the mo , i will do more )

Have you budgeted for fuel pump and injectors? It makes sense to uprate the clutch whilst the engine is out.

How are your brakes

On stock injectors you can get up to 360 BHP, maybe 380 by using higher fuel pressure (5 bar). With injectors and fuel pump, you can get up to 430-450 BHP on RS4 turbos and intercoolers with a full milltek and a custom remap.

HTH,

Mihnea

PS: as dazzer said, I'd definitely upgrade the clutch while you're "in there"

Also check youve got the revised manifolds. Can be a touch annoying to have the engine pulled and then have the manifolds start rattling after a week of the engine being back in

FWIW, I have the K04 type turbos, full Milltek, Forge DV's which were fitted at the same time as the exhaust manifolds were replaced (yes, for rattling!). Standard injectors and fuelling. Close to 400bhp, standard S4 clutch renewed at the same time along with cambelt and water pump.
Fabulous smooth torquey delivery too, all the way to the red. Pulls from ~1,000rpm easily in any gear and gives 25+mpg when driven like a Micra!
It will highlight the limits of the standard S4 brakes pretty soon!
Definitely worth having the RS4 engine mounts, gearbox mounts and an AWE DTS at the same time.
Keeping mine forever as it's my daily driver!

K04's, Tanoga, full Milltek, AWE DTS, S4 B6 18"s, RS4 calipers and drilled Quattro discs, RS4 ARB's, Forge DV's and afew other bits.

Stock fuelling close to 400 BHP? On 5 bar fuel pressure I couldn't get more than 370 out of the same setup without having the EGTs going through the roof, so please allow me to doubt it.... Agreed on the torque department, K04s are definitely the best improvement you can do to an S4!!!

Mihnea
