how long do audi S3 motors long ?

i heard a couple of rumours that some S3 motor starts to fail around 100.000 Km. i thought that the audi S3 1.8 motor was one of the best quality's and last longer than 100.000 Km, Am i wrong or is this bad luck for some persons?

what is the weakest part from the audi S3 motor , is it the turbo , motor ? or are this just rumours ? [img]images/graemlins/idea.gif[/img]

Ive personally have not heard of premature failures on these 1.8 blocks for the VAG cars but its depends on individual circumstances, i think Audi have tested the turbo charger in standard form to exceed 100,000kms under extreme conditions too.

But if the car has been tuned and always driven erratically then obviously the life of the engine will be reduced, this will also happen if the car is not looked after right. [img]images/graemlins/spineyes.gif[/img]

As Riz has said, look after it and it will look after you. As long as the services are kept up then there is no reason why you should doubt the durability of the engine.

My S3 has 54,000 miles on the clock and so far so good....

I had mine chipped by MTM with 36,000 miles (58,000 kms) on the clock. I have now done 54,000 miles (87,000 kms) without ant problems...
I'd say gor for it. You won't regret it. You're never too late! [img]images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Got MTM chip + ITG air filter ! Just two little mod and what a increment [img]images/graemlins/jump3.gif[/img] A planty of torque especially al low range but nice also at high . I drove only on narrow road here around my place so nothing to say about max speed ( but speed wasn't my first goal ) .
Snow skiing day planned for tomorrow so this evening a lot of fun on the winding way to Sainkt Moritz [img]images/graemlins/biggrin3.gif[/img]Hope to meet same gentleman driver with their pompous Carrera 4s [img]images/graemlins/033102bigblink_1_prv.gif[/img]

Hi Kriszty,
the dealer told me filter will be able to meet an increased air flow required by chipping . I don't really know actual performance of the only filter because I tested all the pack togheter ( chip + filter ). Anyway , it's not so expensive and you can have a pleasant sound of air aspiration when pushing down [img]images/graemlins/icon_lol.gif[/img]If you like go for it [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

But , joking aside , since a couple of months was brooding over something more ( also replacing my S3 with a brand new A3 V6 ) . Going in that way i had a test drive on a R32 ( same engine in new A3 I think ) that didn't convince me [img]images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
( no turbo kick , engine good for estate not for sporty hatch ) So I decided to mod mine and wait something else with turbo ( S3 ? RS3 ? we will see ) [img]images/graemlins/boots.gif[/img]

A man after my own heart. In my driving life I have nearly always had turbo charged cars. There is something about a turbo (or 2) that makes a car special. The car previous to my S3 was not turbo charged and I didn't enjoy it one bit.
