They did say in their statement's that the two time's I accelerated away (I do not recall coming out of 6th gear), they could not keep up. "The Audi pulled away from our patrol car and we could not keep up, it was accelerating faster than our car could". The Patrol car was a Lexus IS300 I think...poo whatever it was.
Here is the list of things that I remember from the night and some comments/notes made by me.
These are the points I'm going to raise in my formal complaint and possible appeal...
- Failing to pull me over at 80mph – either breaking the law or not. Entrapment???
- Speedo calibration, before/after – no evidence of either
- Electronic Equipment fix report – equipment in car was ALL broken?
- Approx 0.5second gap between red and red-amber on other direction
- Police put blues on AFTER he went through lights - I had time to look and try to determine what car it was contrary to statement
- Police went into my car whilst I was sat in theirs and got my wallet from car and out-of-sight
- No NIP
- Police went thru red light without flashing lights – contrary to statement
- Following me in an aggressive manner in outside lane when I am in inside lane, blinding me with his lights. Having had issues with other ned cars before, I was nervous and too embarrassed to say so when questioned. I felt in danger of my life and drove at speed to escape the potential danger. Just as any other emergency service would do when trying to get the public out of danger..>!
- He came from another road – contrary to statement
- He would have to catch me - perhaps that was the max speed he inferred too? – not allowed according to ACPO guidelines from the distance his statement says
- On another shout – ACPO guidelines breakage
- Did not check car or insurance or tax or drink driving limit – strange considering I was driving at high speed and just back from Amsterdam – weed and all that….????
- Eye balling the distance between us at night…….has been proven too hard to do during the day, let alone at night
- Comments about not driving dangerously or carelessly and conditions were great and car was capable
- Confirmed checking his speedo at night using a laser gun....? - not recommended using ACPO guidlines

Rob you have a pm.
On a similar note my brother was done for drink driving about 25 years ago and the police stated that my brother was driving in such a manner as to prevent the patrol car from overtaking him, he was driving in the centre of the road.
Now, none of us could argue with the fact that he was drving in the centre of the road....but how the hell do you overtake on a road that is only 3 metres wide? An example of police tactics to use truth in a distorting manner.
Perhaps the forum members would start a fund to contribute towards costs of hiring the famous Mr Freeman?
