Just noticed something strange. Why are the start buttons on different sides of the handbrake? The demo I drove had it on the right, but the pictures from the guy on autotrader who is selling two has the buttons on the left. I realise that they are stock images and not his actual cars, but nevertheless strange? Photoshop error perhaps?

I noticed the same thing on the ebay advert.
The start button is always on the right irrespective of if it's a left or right hand drive
I reckon they have simply taken the Audi press release photo for a left hand drive car and inverted it. Poor job!!!

What's with the START button? You have to insert a key and press a button! Why?

Exactly what I thought when I sat in it at the dealers...whats the point ?
I think it's meant to make it 'race car' like....umm...right...

And also it actually could do with being the other side of the handbrake for right hand drive cars. It is a little bit awkward when you reach down. Pitty it wasn't mounted on the dash like most manufacturers start buttons. What price we pay for driving an RS4, its going to be a tough job I can tell you....

If it was on the other side, then the handbrake would be in the way, woudl it not?

I thought they may have progressed to keyless go system but it seems not...... does seem strange when you have to put the key in and then press a button, must have been easier to isolate the starter circuit with the alarm, I can see no other reason for it..........

No more so than if you're driving a left hand drive car

The next Audi innovation will be start with key, button and crank handle. Insert key, press Start button, then jump out and turn the crank handle. That's progress !
