RS4 been chipped

Post by JodyRS4 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 5:00 pm

Just bought a B5 RS4, took it Northampton Motorsport for the free trial but found out it had been chipped. I took the car to a 4 wheel rolling road and the fiqures came out at 339 bhp with 557 NM torque. I am not sure what direction to take with the car, it would nice if anyone could give me some idea on what they would do.
Cheers

According to the tuning house, some re-mapping can reduce BHP but increase the torque far more.
We have had a B5 before and yes 380 is standard but torque is 440 NM. This car is seriously quick and already had it on Bruntinthorpe with a CSL.

I would want a chip/re-map which increased both! Not reduced my power by at least 40 horses :bash: Someone is talking serious rubbish here. 'Seriously quick' relative to what? a 339hp car is going to be quick but I suspect my Stage II example with increased torque AND power would be quicker. depends what you're experience is and what you are judging it against.

What tuning house is spinning you this story? A few questions need answering here :|

LOL, What are the details for the day? I am sure a few of us would be up for that one.
Is it a Audi day or are we welcome to bring a CSL?
I have to add, i like my current clutch!

I am sure your stage II is much quicker!!
I am not here to compete with people, i thought it would be nice to ask advice?
If it's a case of who has the quickest car then this site is not for me, This B5 i have is used for work as i need an estate, what i drive the socially might suprise your STAGE II but like i said i am not into " who has the fastest car" So in reality my Silver van is nearly as quick as your car!

I dont think a re-map would reduce your bhp by that much, It looks like you have been quoted Wheel HP so add 80ish BHP onto the figure and your RS is about right at around 420ish bhp
BMW 540i
2018 GTR
F90 M5
X3MC
RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

Far from being competitve, I have no interest in trying to say my car is faster than yours merely that any Stage II car at 440hp is going to be quicker than a car with 100hp less. My car has not been dyno-ed and I have no intention of doing so or racing it over a 1/4 mile. Figures are not important to me so long as it does what I want it to do on the road and on the track 3 or 4 times a year.

I was questioning where the figures have come from cos they don't make much sense at face value. Paul's explanation sounds plausible and may go someway to explaining it. I wasn't the only one questioning where the figures have come from and had no intention of offending anyone. Not enough information really for people to make sensible comments on, hence misunderstandings. Enjoy your car :beerchug:

Sounds like it may have other problems, not to question tuning house, but if I had a remap and the bhp figures were down, i would not be paying regardless of torque increase.
Get the car checked with Vag Com, you may have a boost leak or failed sensor.

Jody - if you are trying to find out what has been done to your car RE chip wise and taking aside any current problems, I'd be inclined to give the big tuner's a call - AMD, MRC, REVO etc.

If they turn up nothing then you could take the ECU apart and there may be a sticker or something but I'd not hold out for it. If you already have another Audi then you know the script but I'd get it into somewhere like MRC for a health check.
