Ride Quality. Standard suspension/Sports suspension??
Ride Quality. Standard suspension/Sports suspension??
Has anyone driven a standard suspension with 18 inch wheels and a sports suspension plus with 19 inch wheels??. How do they compare??. I have on order a car with the standard suspension and 18 inch wheels I also ticked the last box in the age survey (bloody sad when you get to that one!!)...so I guess that tells the reason. I wonder how much of a sacrifice in handling the standard suspension makes for the benefit of more comfortable daily driving. I don't intend to track day the car. Its been a long wait, car due April!!!.
RE: Ride Quality. Standard suspension/Sports suspension??
To get a March delivery slot I took up a cancelled order (sort of, long story - see the dilemma thred if you need to know) with my dealer and the car had been spec'd with the 18" wheels. Got to say I didn't want those and nearly didn't have the car because of it. Dealer subsequently has managed to get these changed. My decision was purley asethtics although the dealer did say that the 19" wheels with sports suspension is a hard ride. Great if you intend to take the car to track days but you're not so I wouldn't worry too much. My dealer also said, although this could have been sales patter to get me to have the 18" wheels, that the car did all its tesing with the 18"ers.
Unless you intend to take the car to it's limits on public roads, I wouldn't worry too much.

I think it was the Editor of Audi Driver ( who must be at least mid 60s) - and does not like rock hard suspension - only well controlled) who reckoned the DRC Sports was much better than the standard, softer feel as the dampers are softer as it relies on the DRC to control the car
