1....2....3 Stage Meguiars

Post by toasty » Tue Apr 01, 2003 1:11 pm

Ok,

So I've got the Meguiars 3 stage polish, which is great.

I'm now in the position where the whole car has been done with all 3 stages in order (1 is paint clensing, 2 is polish and 3 is wax)

So my car has been clensed, polished and waxed, but my question is will I ever need to use stages 1 and 2 again, or do I just keep applying the wax periodically.

....and if this is the case then perhaps Meguiars should consider using smaller bottles for stages 1 and 2

It's hard work applying all three stages, but the end result is paintwork that looks like glass.

You've polished it so much that you can see through it?

IMHO you should re apply 2 & 3 every couple of months, this will give greater depth of shine and extra wax protection

The whole 3 stage should be done every year really dependant on mileage and exposure to the elements

And some cars may need two initial coats of stage 1 if very dirty to get a good clean surface to start from so i guess thats why they have on bottle size

Good report mate, how about some shiny photos

Actually, it's Stage 1 you'll be using regularly to wash the car and Stg 2 & 3 should be done semi-annually at a minimum; in spring to repair the finish after winter harshness and prepare for summer then again in fall to repair from summer damage and prepare for winter. Polishing and waxing more frequently is optional and will only enhance the car's finish more, assuming products are applied under the right conditions (often summer temps are too high and winter too cold for proper use).
