Can anyone help? Pure white smoke coming out of A6 2.5 TDI rear Pipes year 99, have checked head its ok have checked all cylinder compression and that ok to it is burning a lot of oil , can anyone help me in this situation? thanks Ash

As Grizz suggests it could be the turbo the problem, is more noticable on idle?
Pull the hose from the airbox to the turbo off and check the movement in the turbo, should only be a slight side movment.
Other known problems with this engine are often caused by a blocked crankcase breather. It is located in the V of the engine to the rear of the fuel pump. The crank case pressure builds causing oil to be forced out from the turbo seals. This is obvious when removing the oil cap. There is a test that the dealers perform using a pressure tester in the dipstick hole.
