Facelift Matrix

Post by Y3CHR » Tue Apr 11, 2017 6:30 pm

I already have the pre-facelift matrix LED lights, i am considering buying the facelift headlights now and wondered if my existing ballast etc is interchangeable. I would assume it to be the same unit but just wondered if anyone could confirm

Not exactly clear on what you intend doing, but you do know that the headlights changed shape (subtly) at the facelift? The post-FL lights cannot be fitted to a pre-FL car without replacing body parts - I don't know exactly what, but I would guess the bumper and grille at the minimum.

What he said. Rear lights are interchangeable but the front lights won't fit without facelift front end.

Also, you have the pre facelift LED lights, they are not matrix though.

Pre 2015 facelift headlights weren't Martrix LED, just normal "All LED" headlights.

My mistake, I just assumed. With that much work involved not sure I would consider it now. Quite like the look of the pre-facelift lights. I bought the dynamic module for the rear and would quite like the front indicators to sweep too, that's all

You should have done it the other way round; bought facelift lights for the rear and got dynamic modules for the front if possible. Can you not use the rear modules for the front?

Mike I was under the impression that the rear face lift lights are very slightly different to the point they leave a gap. Can't remember where I read it but can lead to leakage.

My Mrs new A3 s'line TDi FL has swooping rear lights but standard flashing fronts. I don't think it looks odd cause you can't exactly see both at the same time.
