Torque spec on wheels bolts

Post by si_b » Mon Nov 21, 2016 9:26 pm

Can anyone confirm the required torque on wheel bolts before I fit my winters.

Is it the standard 120Nm?

Thanks.

120NM. I generally torque the security bolt up a bit less as I have had the head strip out once in the past and a real PITA to get it off after that [not on the RS thankfully]

see here: http://www.myaudiq5.com/index.php/topic ... lt-torque/ (Scroll down a bit)

This. The lockers definitely aren't as strong. The 'key' is designed to fail before the bolt. But doesn't always work like this! I normally torque them up, then a few days / week later, double check the lockers at the same torque, turn the torque wrench up another 5 / 10 Nm / lb ft and nip up the regular bolts.

What is the point of adding 5/10NM to the recommended torque? The correct way of rechecking after a few miles is crack off each bolt, re-torque back to manufacturer's spec and repeat for next bolt / wheel - 120NM No more, no less.
