DRC front shocks rattle!

Post by gorun01 » Thu May 05, 2016 10:17 am

My 2015 fl lovely has developed an annoying rattle in the front right shock. Happens when going over minor undulations at slow speed mainly in comfort but sometimes I can hear it in auto and dynamic as well. Mind you the car has done only 12 000 kms. Took her to stealer and after a 2 hour inspection, drc pressure checks etc. they established that the other front shock rattles too. Apparently Audi are aware of the issue and are working on new front shock absorbers. I was told that the expected release date is around mid-June. :audibash:

I have this too and hoping to get Audi to look at during first service in a month or two. Did you dealer say they would rectify it once the fix was released? Keen to avoid "they all do that sir". Sounds like something is loose at low speeds and over potholes, drain covers etc.
Please keep us posted on progress with your car.
Thanks
Mark

Finally the shocks came and I got all 4 replaced under warranty. They do feel a little tighter but some rattle is still present at lower speeds/sharper undulations. The original shocks had got better with time to the point that the rattle had all but gone. Weird...

Can someone expand in this bulletin ?

Is it a mandatory replacement if shocks?

Mine is at the dealers as there was fluid showing on the front shocks. They stated it was 'misting or sweating' which i know is bollox!

Not not mandatory. If yours rattles - typically at low speeds over uneven roads and from the front - then this is how Audi dealers are told to deal with it (after DRC check re pressure etc).
No rattle. No problem. It is normally evident from day 1 - or within a thousand miles at most. Presumably variable tolerances in some dampers. Not sure what they have changed but worked for my car.

Mine is in having all four shocks replaced under warranty as we speak. This may sound like a silly question, but I presume they will have to remove the wheels to do this? And will have to do a 4 wheel alignment after all work completed? Or will replacing the shocks not effect the alignment?
