Brake Judder

Post by qwick69 » Mon Jun 15, 2015 8:35 am

I have done 21k in my RS6. The car is a year old. It has started to vibrate/judder under heavy breaking from speed. I thought it was down to tyre wear and the need for new break pads. These were both changed a few days ago but it has not resolved the issue.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? Is it normal and so should I live with it, or could there be another issue?
Thanks

I don't think that should be normal. I read a long term review here

Look at Month 3 as they had brake judder after a while and Audi replaced the disks. Might be worth pushing back to Audi as a warranty issue

B7 RS4 (Miltek Res Valved, 100 cell cats, Ceramics, Carbon cleaned) gone

Having the same problem with mine! Wonder if they will sort it under warranty or put the brakes down as being consumable?

Let us know how you get on please.

My rs6 with 160km started to do a louder noise when use the brake.

The audi dealer replaced the rotor and pad brakes for free in warranty

I agree with the skimming, it fixed my recurrent judder issue, although at 21k miles I'd be looking at replacing the discs anyway. And new pads on an old disc won't help matters.
It could just be an uneven build up of pad material so you could try doing 7-8 hard almost-stops from 60mph, then drive for a bit too let them cool off.

I had this judder on my C6, after less than 7k KMs, was told to burn the residue off in the holds,

+1 for Suprsi's suggestion. I was told to belt down a big mountain and be firm on the brakes.

Booked into dealer 20th of this month? They say it could be a hub fault? Anyone else had this?

They also claim brakes are deemed as consumables & only warranteed the the 1st 600 miles! Surely cannot be the case if the discs are warped, that would mean a manufacturing fault?

Will update withe results.

Dave.
