So mine has now been done and sounds awesome!!

Firstly the "secondary cats" are empty chambers not Cats at all! The car now sounds perfect to me. A deeper tone and a little more volume at low revs. Higher revs / on boast noticeably louder but not crazy compared with what I'm used to. I have left the valves disconnected for now but will see after a motorway run but running around town and a few blasts just sounds perfect! :)

Interesting, they are just resonators after all. Or not even that?

I think they are the "sport" option ie no muffling. If that's it very disappointing for the price of the sports option!

Andy, this sounds like an avenue I would like to explore. Interested to know if any drone at cruising speeds etc?

I have been offered a used OEM sports exhaust for £1000 (not inc fitting) which I thought was fairly steep, so would like to look at this option for my standard non sports exhaust. Can you pm me the chaps number? I'm only down the road in Abingdon so would be ideal....

Yes £1000 to not have a box filled with anything is ridiculous, :audibash: but Audi are not alone in this.

OEM sports exhaust exhaust 'Cats' near the downpipe. They are just an an air box with a straight perforated pipe probably to damp the pressure pulses. Had the exhaust off to change over to a Milltek recently

Does anyone know what the exact differences are between OEM standard & OEM sports exhaust?

So are we saying the back boxes are the same, the central resonator is the same, and the only difference is the secondary cats? In which case, to replicate the sport exhaust with a standard exhaust all you need to do is cut out secondary cats and replace with straight pipe?
