Without doubt!!
Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Brilliant!!!
I'll be towing my track car so not quite as big..
Sounds like my current C7 Quattro detachable tow bar will do the job..

Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
This thread was very helpful in deciding to go for an RS6 & retrofitting the tow bar. So I thought I'd update it with a slightly cooler picture than the caravan.

Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Hi Phil
I’m on the process of looking for my perfect RS6 and want to retrofit a towbar if it doesn’t have one. What parts did you use? A direct plug and play kit?
Craig.

Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Hi Craig, just the OEM tow bar. The car came with 'Tow preparation' in the spec (As most of them do I believe), so they just bolted it on as far as I know. I had it done by Audi when buying the car. It's not as posh as the one I specced from new on my Macan GTS that electrically deploys, but it's still simple enough to drop & kick back up into place. The only grubby bit is the trim panel that you have to remove & refit each time.
Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Just remember you can't fit the towbar if the car has DRC - only air.
Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Thanks for getting back to me Phil (for some reason i never received a notification)
I have since put a deposit on one, I decided to go for a DRC car as this is going to replace my E46 M3 and R36 so wanted something a little more dynamic when pushing on! so I'll have to forfeit the towbar, unless I can find a way to move the accumulators and reinstate the factory wiring and coding
On another note Phil, keep up the awesome content, sweet work on the tyres for the 964 and no compromise resto on VITEN
Craig.

Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
Time for another revival of this thread! Did anyone ever get the part number? I'm waiting on Westfalia returning my call, but perhaps the Audi part number would help if I need to just take it to the dealership.
Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
I was hoping to fit a towbar to my 2017 RS6 Performance but it turns out I can't apparently. I approached Automotive Control (Bristol) because they have a nice clip on their website of an RS6 with a detachable towbar fitted and according to them it's nothing specifically to do with DRC or indeed anything other than the VIN Plate information on the driver's door pillar.

In order to be homologated for towing you must have a 'total weight figure' for vehicle and trailer visible in the missing gap between the 2580KG and the 1290KG. In most cars this would be between 3000KG and 5000KG. If it's missing, as in the case with my car, the car is not approved to tow. I asked them if this was because of the DRC, which is fitted to mine and they said no. Apparently they have successfully fitted towbars to RS6s with DRC. I was told it is most likely due to a particular combination of options fitted at the factory that meant Audi did not approve that particular vehicle for towbar fitting, even though it will have all the same basic wiring and housings.
I'm now trying to see if there is a way around this but it seems unlikely or unwise......or both

Re: C7 RS6 Towing advice
I had exactly the same response (which I don’t doubt) with Automotive control.
I didn’t look any further into it. Even though it would be highly useful to me. The only thought I had was if the SVA could certify it. But not sure if they could or even would.
Let me know if you do stumble onto any useful info.
Craig.
