Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
Thanks Mike. It's in for a couple of warranty items next week so I'll get them to do it then.
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
I've just been quoted £350 for a minor service (inspection + oil change I believe) plus £85 for the brake fluid change from Audi garage, they say they can do it all in 1.5 hours while I wait with 2 technicians working at once on the car (assuming I don't want the car cleaned which takes an extra 30 mins). Does this seem reasonable?
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
Are they trying to tell you it needs an inspection service as well or did you decide to have the service done at the same time?
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
They are saying they will do a "free" heath check and look up and do what is required, if it only needs brake fluid that's all they'll do. I suspect it is just that, brake fluid only and MOT with the minor service / oil change being due in 4 months / 4.5k miles based on flexible service schedule (roughly 13 months from previous oil change).
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
Mines due inspection in 30 days and oil in 120 or so seems daft not to have both at once but only covered 16k in 3 yrs and had an extra service past schedule already
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
These inspections are just a boost by Audi on the RS one there not inspections there normally teamed up with oil /fluid/filters and so you take the car in to them . Let's face it the oil is £130/£150 to do at a specialist as long as they run it to temp and use the 2 drain points save your self a few quid maybe unless Audi will sort you a deal if you have 2 cars with them if be looking for one Nick .Nick_T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 10:35 pmI don't plan to sell any time soon. It is still within warranty (bought from Audi so had extended warranty until May) so maybe going to Audi this time will be beneficial so I can try and pick up any issues under warranty.
I was thinking it might be easier just to get it all done in one hit, seems a little excessive / expensive to pull the oil change service in by 4 months especially if this happens on a regular basis but maybe I need to stop thinking about saving a few quid!
Trying to get my head around the servicing intervals of the car, can't seem to find reference to what to expect from a quick search around. Bought my wife's Q5 at the same time and that isn't saying anything is due yet despite covering more miles, I presume her service intervals on a 3.0 TDI 2016 Q5 differ from the RS6, to be expected with a performance car.
Ps. If you have a Pan roof that's on the 40k service too / re oil and clean . So sparks - Diff oil - gear box oil - pan roof depending on what you had done first .

Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
It is all a bit confusing, my car was booked in for a service yesterday, which needed an oil service at 23,000 miles. Inspection was not for another 8,000 miles.
Now it has been serviced the inspection is showing as due at a much higher mileage interval than it was pre oil service yesterday.

Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
I'm completely confused by my service interval now. I went to Audi as it showed inspection due. Thanks to you guys it was pointed out this was 3 year brake fluid change and nothing more, Audi confirmed as much and stated nothing else was due after a full check and proceeded to change brake fluid and nothing more. On checking the vehicle service section on the car the intervals now showing don't make sense to me.
Pre brake fluid change:
Next oil change in 4200 mi / 126 days
Next inspection in 3500 mi / 16 days
Post brake fluid change / inspection:
Next oil change in 9000 mi / 365 days
Next inspection in 3400 mi / 730 days
I queried before leaving the garage and was reassured that everything is as it should be and is perfectly normal. Thought I'd check with you guys.
Not sure why oil change is now pushed out despite no oil change occurring. Last oil change was 10.5 months ago and approx. 7.5k miles.
Inspection isn't now due for 2 years but mileage to next inspection hasn't changed? Is there something due at approx 20k miles?
Car is 3 years old exactly and has 15.5k on the clock. RS6 with panaramic roof, carbon ceramic brakes, not PE.
Thanks for any insight anyone can give! Is there an online form showing service intervals for RS6? Or is it dependant on driving style etc.?
Cheers!

Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
Looks like they reset the oil change to me. 9000 miles or 365 days is exactly the oil change interval when on annual servicing.
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
That's what I specifically asked the service manager about as I checked before leaving the garage. They came out and said it was all checked over on their computer and set to what it should be. I'm not convinced it is correct.
It might be on flexible servicing at the moment, I'm uncertain. What should oil change be for a RS6 on flexible servicing, is it dynamic based on driving style, is oil quality checked by some kind of probe?
Going by original service interval figures displayed in the car before taking it in for the inspection it seemed to have estimated oil change was due in a total of 11k miles / 14 months since last change, this seems like odd numbers to me. Unless they reset intervals when doing work on the car previously without me noticing. Any thoughts?
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
Normally I change oil at Audi dealer every 15000km
Re: “Inspection service” at 3 yrs
The fixed servicing is 9000 miles / 12 months, whichever comes first.Nick_T wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 7:37 pmThat's what I specifically asked the service manager about as I checked before leaving the garage. If it's on the variable service then I think it's up to 18,000 miles / 2 years but this normally goes down based on how the car is driven. I recall someone telling me (this was about a B7 RS$, but the logic is probably still the same) the car can judge the state of the oil and therefore the service interval by who long it takes the oil to heat up (and cool down?). This is the best explanation I have seen to make any logic out of how the car knows when the flexible service is due.
I'd put money on them resetting the oil service given those numbers. Not sure why it is is still expecting an inspection in 3400 miles. Something else must be due then, perhaps spark plugs?
