10biscuits, what you have seen regarding your car is the same as I saw, our cars are behaving in the same way

The water temp on my dash showed 90degc fairly rapidly, the temperature via VCDS was lower though and took longer to rise to +90degc. The oil temperature reads --- until around the 68degc point. It doesn't suddenly rise to +60, it just doesn't display the temperature until it increased to +60 [--- does not mean zero]. So if you are like me and like to wait until things are warmed up before sinking the boot

then better to rely on the oil temperature than either the water temperature or the point when the initial rev limit shown around the rev counter return to normal.
