Then be careful with the Vag-Com version you buy.

If you take the cheaper Serial Port version (vs. the USB one), be aware that many notebooks do not have a serial port anymore.

if you go for the serial port version, Dell makes one which is a pretty good/light/decent autonomy/decent price, called the Inspiron 500m.
But for example, the cheaper/heavier Inspiron 1100 does NOT have a serial port.

PS : if you ever go for Revo, it seems their optional "advanced tuning kit" also requires a serial port as of today. You may want to verify that too. But in any case, I'd go for a notebook WITH a serial port to keep maximum options open.

there's always usb to serial converters - I use one on my acer laptop to talk to serial devices.. appears as a normal COM port so most software should work with it.

My laptop doesnt have a serial port and i have tried using usb to serial convertors and unfortunately the Vag com does not work with these converters unless u buy the very expensive one.
