A well looked after and great condition example. Lots of preventative maintenance has been carried out to avoid common RS4 issues.

  • Just had Carbon Clean and service. Running 410bhp (see pictures).
  • Recently refurbished wheels.

  • Exhaust centre resonator replaced with x-pipe.
  • Working DRC suspension with no knocks, creaks or leaks.
  • New oil cooler and lines (previous owner).

  • New front steering knuckles.
  • New wheel bearings and hubs all-round.
I have kept receipts for all work done.
  • Wingbacks with working seat bolsters.
  • Flat bottom sports steering wheel.
  • Carbon fibre interior inlays.
  • BOSE sound system.
Car will be sold with the original LD56 XBJ number plate.

I would love to keep it and had intended to, but I need to get a more practical estate and can't justify keeping this at the moment.

Just a suggestion. Might be useful for potential buyers if you could clear up findings and actions?

Sure makes sense, I'll expand on that thread now I know more of what happened.

At the very end of the carbon clean procedure, the original garage had unknowingly dropped a bolt from the oil filter bracket down the back of the engine. This happens to be just above a gearbox inspection hole which the bolt fell into. When they first started the car, they noticed a noise from the bell housing area and stopped the car immediately, the car was run for seconds.

Because the original garage were in denial of any wrong doing, I had the car recovered to another reputable garage to investigate and fix as needed. Again, it was not started by my request. Once they removed the gearbox, they found the bolt stuck to the crank position sensor which is magnetic. The sensor was the only part damaged and was replaced with an Audi part. The flywheel had small marks on the outside edge but was not damaged. The rouge bolt was also replaced on the oil filter bracket. No other parts were damaged and there are no cracks or anything like that, if the car was left running or driven it would have been a different story.

As the gearbox was out, I had the clutch kit, flexi pipe, etc changed for new. Annoyingly all the parts looked in perfectly good condition and plenty of life remaining, but it's a big job dropping the box and wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. I sent the pictures (same as in the linked thread) to the original garage who agreed without question it was their error and they paid for the full job, recovery and all.

This means a fresh clutch for the new owner and only a week of stress at my expense. Once the car was rolling again, I took it back only for the post-clean dyno run which you can see now makes ~410bhp.

Hopefully this clarifies things and any other questions I'm more than willing to answer.

Cheers,
Al

Regal are useless. Not sure what other specialist you decided to go to afterwards but JKM are really good (based in Portsmouth). I've had issues with Regal with other VAG cars and know lots of people in the VAG scene who have encountered issues. They're not honest and they continue to charge and even make up faults when they can't identify the problem.

Looks like a lovely example. Did it only make 374BHP prior to the carbon clean and then jump up to 410 after? 36BHP is one hell of a jump.

Thanks, and you are right! JKM is exactly who I took it to, they did a brilliant job and fully looked over the car with no issues, even arranged the recovery.

Carbon Clean made a decent improvement, not only power gain, it just runs even sweater now. I had it health checked at Surrey Rolling Road back in January '20 where it made around 380bhp so does line up with Regal's numbers.
