Warm Key

Hi all
Sounds like a silly question, but does anyone else's key come out the slot warm ?
I've noticed mine has been quite hot the last couple of times I've removed it, and having had this car through one winter already, I don't recall it doing it last year when i would've had the heater on in a similar manner
Maybe I just forgot from last winter, but it does seem to be quite hot recently

Sounds like the car is set on defrost mode, if you look under the car behind the rear offside wheel, you will find a red button.. Just push it to turn off

I never use my key so I can't help on the heat issue, as I have never liked the push key setup in the B8 Audi's - couldn't understand why they changed from the standard ignition key (and push button start in the B7 RS4). Went for the advanced key in the B8 - like the push button start /stop instead of messing about with a key....
Driven plenty of A4's using this type of key but never noticed the key getting warm at all....

Biggest issue I have with advanced key is where to put the key if not in the slot! Cant use the cupholder as then where does your drink go. I have a good sized bunch of keys so dont like keeping them in my pocket either. So in the slot it generally goes

I thought the idea was to keep it in your pocket or handbag (if you feel the need to carry one?!?). I also guess that if you were unlucky to get your car hijacked, the would be car thieves wouldn't realise they haven't got a key for the car until they are well away with it and you are out of their reach. I presume that the car will continue to run until the engine is switched off, and obviously then they would be knackered.....or is there a range that the car will run without the signals from the key fob?

Key has to be absolutely in the car for it to start.

I believe it will continue to run until it is turned off.

Yes it runs until it's turned off but you are warned promptly on the dash when the key departs the vehicle.

Behind the cup holders you'll find there's an armrest. That actually lifts up and there is a compartment underneath. Your keys would more than likely fit in there with out any issues. Unless you're a caretaker with a lot of responsibility........

I always have my key on its own. I never have my house, car or office keys together, because I'm a clot. If I loose one, I've lost them all, so I keep them all separated. I also hate rattles, so having things hang from the car key would drive me nuts, plus over time potentially scratch and damage the immediate dash area...
