Remote Locking Intermittent Problem (works / doesn't work)

Hi,

I have an intermittent problem with my 59 plate S4, sometimes the remote fob won't lock or unlock the car, strange thing is when this happens both keys don't work. I have a red blinking light on the fob so I know the battery is fine, I can unlock with the key in the door and then have no issues at all starting and driving the car.

I've tried replacing the battery and then immediately starting the car, leaving it running for a while, going for a 30 minute drive etc

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Audi want £60 to investigate, and then some more to fix no doubt.

Is there a sequence to reset the keys, everything I have read refers to a bladed key being put in the ignition and turned while holding various buttons, I can't do this with the fob type key.

Do you know someone with Vagcom who could run a quick diag through any faults/errors that might be logged?

No I did have one when I owned my B7 RS4 but I sold it soon after selling the RS4 as I moved to a BMW and didn't think I'd need it again.

Where abouts are u based? Might be worth asking if someone on the forum who is nearby with Vagcom is happy to assist.

Are you absolutely positively 100% sure all doors are closed at the time? Reason i say is because I had an intermittent problem also when locking the car (advanced key) and it turned it out was because sometimes my daughter wouldn't close her door properly. Next time it happens, check all the doors.

Worth a shot anyway as everything else seems ok
