Hi Guys,
Correct me if I am wrong... but while driving around the ECU adapts to your conditions (talking about ignition timing). If I wanted to re-set the ECU so it re-learnt how I would I do this?
Just wondering if I stuck some octane booster in the tank would I see any improvement if the ECU is holding back the timing based on experience on previous tanks of fuel.
I could of course just disconnect the battery, but I thought there may be a better way to do it is all.
Cheers,

RE: How To Reset ECU?
I think if you clear faults in the ECU/engine with VAG Com it will clear the adaptive figures as well, but, not sure if you can reset faults (if there are none) if you know what I mean!!
RE: How To Reset ECU?
Is it confirmed that if you clear engine/ECU faults then the adaptive settings get cleared too?

RE: How To Reset ECU?
i cleared a couple of codes on monday then went to check my fuel trims only to find them reading 0.0 so it would seem that a scan and code clearing session does clear the adaptive values

RE: How To Reset ECU?
I was told there are some the ecu remembers even after the ECU has been disconnected for an hour & the fault codes have been reset. Mihnea is the man to answer I think.

Re: How To Reset ECU?
On a B6 S4 you reset this by turning the ignition on, NOT starting the engine and pressing the throttle pedal fully down for several seconds. You would hear the DBW motors clicking and whirring, and when that stopped take your foot off the pedal and start the engine.ZeroK66 wrote:Hi Guys,
