Audi Software

Post by S4PJH » Mon Sep 26, 2005 7:29 pm

Hi all

Does anyone know if Audi have done something clever with there software regards to servicing intervals my S4 has been running lovely over the past few months up until the service reminder came up on my dash. The car now doesn’t seem to pull as well as it did. I wondered if they done this so you would take it to the dealer
Am I just being stupid or is it something else?

Must be coincidence. The MAF and DVs are a weak point on the car - could be your problem.

May be something else or could be the MAF again - only takes a bit if dirty air.

You really need VAG COM hooked up. What area of the country are you - may be some kind soul will help you with VAG COM.

I'm in the West Midlands area near the NEC i need to goto the stealers to book it in for a service so i might get them to do a health check. It might be in my head, maybe i'm getting used to the car's performance. Maybe i need to chip it

Get VAG-COM. If you are really skint then I can sell you an older cable and you can use the shareware version for doing a lot of checks.

Get it chipped and get a free health check at the same time - well it's free if you go to MRC - actually that last bit rhymes - I'm a poet and I didn't know it

You would be lucky if a dealer can diagnose a faulty MAF

True, mine rang me and asked why I thought the MAF was duff because their check was OK, they test at tickover or something similar IIRC.

I just said max should be 213 g/sec and mine read 140 AND I had lean DTC's for both cylinder banks.

I put my knowledge down to the power of asking questions on web forums :-)

The Dealer said he thought the MAF was duff after a test drive but needed to check it on the computer. He also said the N75 Valve needed changing. I used to have the ESP light flicker on acceleration and it would cut the power. I'm going to take it back and see what they can do. If the MAF has gone duff again they should replace it under guarantee as it was only changed 5 months ago. (or would they?)

Nice poem Dazzer :o
