Warning light... anyone had it before?

Every now and again this warning light comes up, and even though its been into Audi they don't seem to be able to see whats causing it... anyone had it too and any ideas how to put it right?

I think you just need to check your tyre pressures & then reset the TPMS (is in the DIS can get there via the steering wheel) My car had this on the test drive - the tyres were OK but the pressures hadn't been saved properly.

I have checked tyre pressures and tried to store new pressures... still doesn't clear the warning light....

Perhaps the TPMS has gone wrong then ? I know mine had the exact same light & tyre pressures were OK but when collected car was fixed so I assumed was operator error on the part of the garage but maybe the TPMS had to be fixed ?

Probably the batteries in them... of which I think they are a sealed unit, so need to be replaced :(

I got that when I had a new wheel fitted and the TPMS sensor wasn't working. Not sure if they repalced the sensor or did something else, but they fixed it. I still had to reset the system, and it takes a few miles to synchronise.

I am pretty sure you can disable TPMS either in the DIS or via Vagcom/VCDS so if you are capable of monitoring your own tyre pressures this may be an option rather than buying new sensors ?

The best way to see what's causing this warning symbol is to see what fault codes the TPMS controller is storing.

It could be as simple as a poor connection to the antenna that receives the signal from the wheel sensoors, or, especially if it's only started recently, it could be one or more of the batteries in the sensors going down. VAG-COM will tell you...

surely must be to do with the coking up, eveything else is..

If that was an attempt at humour, then IMHO it's in very poor taste. I reckon there's enough controversy about coking up without fanning the flames.
