carbon clean

Post by cheshire_carper » Sat Mar 23, 2013 9:56 am

Hi all,

I think I may have found a suitable rs4. It has done c40k and wondered, if the carbon clean process has not been done, is it likely to need it?

Best regards

Probably, it certainly won't do it any harm anyway, they do carbon up relatively quickly these cars! Get it on the rollers and see what its producing, and assuming there are no other under lying issues it may give you an indication of what its like in there. :beerchug:
B7 RS4 Avant 2007 Daytona Grey
Black Optics / Ti Pack
SS Suspension +
Sunroof
H&R Hubcentric Spacers
Milltek Res / Valved Cat Back
Stage 2 MRC Map
Cold Air Feed
Carbon Clean
Pre-Cats Gutted
447 PS

If in doubt.. Power out!!

I think that question's pretty much unanswerable without seeing or driving the car
I've seen 90k cars that still make plenty of power as well as 30k cars that need a drastic clean out due to never being used properly
Only real test is to get it RR'd

An RR test is not very useful when you're after an absolute value, there are just too many variables.

RR tests are great for comparing before and after having work done, but IMHO not useful to determine whether work is needed.

Entirely agree
However, if you RR it somewhere that knows RS4's (such as MRC) then they'll be familiar with the various output parameters, and should be able to give a good indication of whether its clogged up or not

Deffo going to get mine done when funds have recovered from buying it. It feels rapid compaired to my old R32 but even an additional 100hp would feel drastically different and that would be a circa 380hp at best.

Think I'll go for a carbon clean, exhaust and map all at the same time. Some pain in the wallet there!!!

Interested to follow your progress if you go for it.
