That it is mate, you should know :)

actually better than all gears at 8 flat!
even after adjusting for temp ~7.9

how many miles, were the valves ever cleaned?

if the numbers are ~accurate, can anyone say the car is down on power?
or that cleaning the valves make it faster?
Pippyrips will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the valves were cleaned at roughly 22500 miles

The car has done about 5000 miles since.

According to this http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... torder=asc the car is modded.
My car has done 30k miles. My times do seem strange, though I hope the onboard computer doesn't lie. If I remember it, I'll time some runs tomorrow to see if I can repeat it. I have no mods and no cleaned valves.

You've written my times incorrectly. My runs were:
7,6
7,8
7,7
7,7
Averaging 7,7 seconds.

Without wishing to cast aspersions on anyones time...

How are people measuring these times?

And what are we measuring? Starting in 3rd at 3000rpm and "stepping on it" or starting at 2000rpm and then measuring the 3000-8000 interval?

I'd suggest the only reliable way is using VAGCOM as opposed to the Mark 1 eyeball...

If not, at least add a +/- 0.3 delta...

I seem to remember a while ago someone claiming a 4 sec 0-60 at which point it transpired they were using the speedo and onboard lap timer to measure the time...

Good point, well made.

Without electronic equipment these results have just as many, if not more variables than rolling roads, and we all know the fuss they have caused!

I used the onboard timer and started at 2000rpm in 3rd. Foot to floor and then measured 3000-8000.

I know it won't be 100% accurate, but was just a bit of fun.

I already know this car has no power issues.

We know your car is quick Billy!

It may not be 100% correct numbers, but knowing that my car is close to being as fast as Billy's (Which dyno'ed 431 hp), I don't have to give a <beep> about carbon build up or such things.

imo the results are accurate to a sufficient degree, consider:
-no gear change is required, ie, no variable
-the tach is dead accurate, and if it isn't, it's error is cancelled on either end
-mutliple runs averaged negate error
-the timer is dead accurate (within 0.05 sec)
-the timer is easy to use, ie, no shifting of hands for the entire run
-as usual with manual timing (it was used in the Olympics) error(s) cancel, -if you start a bit late, you stop a bit late, the usual scenario...

I would venture the average accuarcy of any given set of times are +/- 0.1 sec, not accounting for atm conditions...
