Question for any of you guys with updated RNS-e - did you simply ebay your mk1 OEM head unit and if so what would one expect for it, reasonably?

PetrolDave - I assume if I have the useless Audi CD changer then the Audi AMi will be a direct replacement - i.e. no glove box part required to accommodate the new Ami - a simple witch over?

Physically yes the AMI is a direct replacement (so no mods needed to the glovebox at all), but electrically it totally different so you need a different cable between the AMI and the CD changer - which you can get from eBay or Kufatec amongst other places.

or is that now an AMI thing ??
AMI and TV are not related in any way.

TV options? - some places have worked out how to swap the useless Audi analog TV tuner to the digital one.

If you don't already have an OE TV tuner then retrofitting one would be a bug job - you would need to replace some of the glass in the rear to get the TV antennas. So fitting a third party TV tuner is the best option, just make sure you get one that can be controlled from the RNS-E - Kufatec do a package of a TV tuner and an interface.

PetrolDave - that's great - looking now yes, the CD changer is physically the same - easy.

Sorry for being blonde - if I remove the CD changer in favour of the AMi that cable from eBay/Kufatec is the connection between the AMi and the RNS-e that is different from the CD changer to RNS-e, right? Cheers in advance!

Cheers Sync.

Probably my rubbish way of explaining it. I was actually after the thickness of the steering wheel which would require you to measure it like you would your own waist, or a ladies bust

I just measured my girth [fnarr, fnarr! ] and it's 11cm

Just so you are clear, make 110% sure that you are buying a wheel from or for a manual TTRS, there are plenty of S-Line steering wheel's out there reporting to be for the RS, these are indeed a lot thinner. Mine is an exclusive one from a TTRS and has smooth leather all round and blue stitching [I didn't mind as I am having some interior re-trimming done this year which includes the FBSW]

Alternativley, some of the better retrim services offer to thicken up the 'feel' of the steering wheel - take a look at royal steering wheels http://royalsteeringwheels.com/ there are also some Polish ebay vendors offering various services. For me, it had to be a genuine Audi part but I am aware of others on here that have taken the alternative route. Also the proper TTRS steering wheels tend to be upwards of 800 / 900 quid where the S-Line ones are around 500 - ebay.de also has a few take a look at this for example - http://www.ebay.de/itm/AUDI-TTRS-STEERI ... 4619abdbf7 - this one has paddles but compare the thumb grips and overall look against something like http://www.ebay.de/itm/Audi-A3-A4-A5-TT ... 19e7810293 [which is quiet obviously a S-Line wheel]

Hope this helps.
