I have noticed a considerable drop off in performance of late but not really had a chance to do much about it.To give you an idea I have tried a couple of Arthur's runs and average about 10 secs!! There is no 'vtec' at 5000rpm the epc light comes on sometimes more so when colder and it can have hesitations anywhere above 4000 rpm , still runs fine below that. All I have done so far is check the bungs I put in the vacuum pipes to the tailpipe valves which are still sound,so could it be the flaps and if so which ones ?
You should probably take the same route I took. Get the spark plugs changed first, or even look at the coil packs.

Audi can test the flaps in 10 minutes. Audi's program (like Vagcom) will monitor the flaps, and the procedure they go through will actually tell them what position they are in (as a percentage open). If they are faulty it will be picked up very quickly. Just a point, the sensor is so sensitive that it picked up a vacuum leak in my car, and I couldn't actually see the flaps moving (I could see the pressure in the gauge dropping, but only by a tiny bit).

Thanks all , I was thinking it must be a vacuum leak somewhere as it suddenly started happening early in the new year just need to get it booked in when I get time . Car has now done 54k miles so probably all gunked up too but never done anything about it .............!

I wouldn't worry about the mileage,I have passed 63k miles and with me and the kids (asleep!) on board today was still doing 8.4 second 3-8k rpm in third gear, 13 degree celcius outside temp, ESP on and damp road.

that's going into the data base :D

how much fuel?
it's an avant too...
so a 63k car, never cleaned, with a load, in less than ideal conditions, meets factory spec (exeeds them if the wt diff for an avant and the load is factored in)
niiiiice

When you sprayed it through the intake did you get a whole bunch of balck smoke out of the rear or changed the oil soon after?
