allow me to elaborate:

do I believe:
air filter (K&N?) tests I've read, 4-5 HP
ported manifold
low restriction cats
low restriction exhaust
and matched software (more agressive timing, rev limit increasd?)
can yeild 6% or 25 HP, 415 to 440? and nice mid-range torque...
YES, as would be confirmed by the 3k to 8k times, 7.5 vs 8.5
I'm guessing ~$7k for the work, and for those so inclined, seems like decent value...
when younger I had the 'bug', and wanted a bit faster, a bit better than the 'other guy', that's cool, and human nature...to each their own, good for them...

do I believe:
cleaning the valves make >9% more HP, 370 to 404 or 34 HP? NO, why?
airflow improves 1 to 2% at best, call ir 6 HP, same order of magnitude as the air filter (and I have shown why this makes sense)
it does not impact timing...

so cleaning the valves yeilds more 50% more power than all the above mods?

it doesn't wash...it doesn't pass the 'sniff test'

What if the valves were really, really badly clogged up?

Do we have pics before the clean up?

the valves can never clog up enough to impede Q more than 2%
the deposits are self limiting
in additon the torus caused by the valve lift (which is the area) the deposits would restrict, is by far the least significant part of the pressure drop system, starting with the airfilter, TB, etc., all the way into the cylinder...

not possible
25 HP (many, many mods) 34 HP, cleaning the valves...
nope, not in my professional opinion
but everyone is entitled to one...

Back on track; Arthur you may want to add the following data;

2006 Audi RS4 Avant
65,000 miles
14 degrees C outside temperature
Full tank of Tesco 99 RON
135 kgs on board weight
TC on
3k-8k rpm (100% throttle at 3k rpm only)

4 runs

8.7
8.9
8.7
8.8

wow, that's good considering
135 kg (driver & passenger or some extra load?)
full tank of fuel...
extra wt of an avant...

try 100% throttle at 2500, so you are 'rolling' by 3000

if your'e down 80-100 HP I would expect > 10 sec
even 20 should put you >9.3 sec with that much wt

135 kgs was driver, passengers + shopping!
I would normally try 100% ta 2500 rpm but because it is off a roundabout on to a dual carriageway with other traffic nearby if I start slower I get overtaken and can't do the run!

2 recent runs in the US:
driver only
<1/2 tank fuel
100% at 2500
cleaned cars
sedans
1) 95 octane/ecu/exhuast ~8.6+, corrected 8.4
2) exhaust/forged wheels/tuned up ~8.7, corrected 8.6

considering yours:
fuel, load plus avant >250 lbs heavier
100% at 3000
uncleaned
and yet within a few 10'ths
no extra wt & 100% at 2500 you're <8.5....easily

NO one is going to convince me your car is not making rated power or that deposits cost 20-100 HP...

I've just come back from doing some runs post the MRC work I had done (completely oem exhaust though):

7.7 (realised halfway through I wasn't on full throttle)
7.5
7.5
7.5

Tesco 99 (I think), about 1/4 tank, 11 degrees outside, dead flat road, engine oil around 95 degrees.
RS4 (06) saloon, phantom, satnav+, adaptive lights.
Audi TT MkII Coupe 2.0 TFSI
E36 BMW 328i Coupe (great car)

good runs, what are your mods?
corrected ~ 7.9 (temp and load)
I adjust to 77 F (SAE std) and 1/2 tank of fuel...

I would guess ~15 to 20 HP more than stock (assuming 415 stock)
so 430+...
