Can someone post the part number of the revised OEM Front Brake Pads.
Is it: 8E0698151H or is that the original number?

Have the rear pads been revised too?

Thanks.

Bump.

Audi are quoting me £191.63 + VAT for the fronts (8E0698151Q) and £137.05 + VAT for the rears (8E0698451P)

Maybe the Q is the revised part?

Conversely, GSF will do pads for £100.63 and £48.88 respectively.

So, are the revised pads from Audi IMPROVED to avoid the grooving issue???

I am using EBC YellowStuff. So far so good. I'd say as good as originals and at GBP 166 inc. VAT a god option. They come with shims and pad wear indicators, but currently require slight modification to fit. Correct ones are in the pipeline apparently.

Not too sure, my dealer couldn't tell me how they changed but you would like to think so!

Just to clarify the GSF items are not Audi items...

Replaced pads a few weeks ago. Managed to catch them just as they had worn down to the pins but before they damaged the discs. Some pics below to show how much of the pad is left when the pins are exposed.

Will try and get some measurements of the thickness left but the battery in my digital caliper was dead.

I dont know much about brakes but that doesnt look like much wear on the bottom ones, how many miles had they done? ive started to get judder on my brakes only covering 5000miles since the last lot were replaced, might look at altenatives. Peter

Mine had same amount of wear when I changed them - probably half the pad was left.

If you search on here, seems the drilled holes in the discs blocking up with crud may be leading to disc judder. I'm not sure but did unblock all the holes and will do if the clog up again (a boring process aided by a few cans of Stella)

In my case the pads had done about 27K from new

I do about 20K a year but most of it is racked up on a 25 mile each way commute to workwhich is split about 50/50 between good A-road and dual carriageway. Traffic density means the brakes usually don't get a hard time.

Not convinced that blocked holes can lead to brake judder. However the holes can take some cleaning out if left a while. I've done mine a few times now and have twisted off a drill bit when doing it.

Recently my brake servicing light came on and I visited my local Audi dealer to get it checked.

I have done 15,000 miles in the last year (Owned the car for 1 year) and was sold the car with the statement that new front discs and pads were fitted.

Interestingly the dealer has stated that the disc is 'Lipped' and that this is causing the brake service light to come on..... Although at the next service in 3000 miles they have recommended replacement of discs and pads. Would this be correct or usual? The car is still under warranty until August 17th 2009.

Does anyone know the minimum recommended disc width?

Interestingly my quote was £1085.00 for front discs and pads!

Price is right from main dealer but you can do it yourself much cheaper. The "lip" they are talking about is on all worn (incl partially) disc. Unless it is severe, doesn't require discs to be renewed. Mines is probably around the 2mm mark if that helps.
