looks like battery life can be seen in Vagcom (assume VW and Audi use similar systems)

a whole forum dedicated to tpms systems

Sensors are completely sealed and batteries can't be changed. Surprised a dealer is saying that at 6 years the batteries should be fine, as from what I've seen, most suppliers give 5-7 years as typical life

I had this fault for a few months, it was annoying. I went down the antenna route initially which did not cure the problem, a new set of sensors and valves did. They are not cheap when you are buying 4 but I did manage to get them on ebay for around £240

Surprised you can't just change the batteries.

Just another way of making money. :audibash: :audibash: :audibash:

Agreed, but to be fair, it's not unique to Audi, as virtually all manufacturers' sensors are sealed - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they were all made by 3rd party companies to the same spec.

i had this a year ago i first replaced the antena chepest at about £70 and easy diy replacement still had errors then changeded all 4 sensors at £70 a corner still had errors then Audi had to replace the processor unit £400 so if your lucky its the antana but you can switch off the TPMS via Vagcom and just check the tyres the old fashioned way

TPMS sensors are made by most of the major automotive suppliers like TRW, VDO, Schrader, etc.

All sorted, thanks to the wisdom in these forums. Plugged in the new antenna and then went through the "wheel change" routine and all is well.

Next up tyres and, shortly, front discs which are nearing their limit ...
