My comments are the same for a h pipe. H and x are pretty much the same. The original exhausts are not connected to each other.

Ahh I'm with you so the original isn't an H pipe then? What's better then H or original?

There is a theory that an X pipe or H pipe will increase scavenging or something like that with the exhuast gases and give you more power.
I doubt you'd notice the difference though. All the exhaust fabricators I spoke to said they wouldn't bother with it (but i know they are no experts on the subject and probably just wanted an easier exhaust to make). So theoretically a h or x pipe is better but debatable as to whether it is worth it.
I believe it also changes the sound slightly.

What would you say gives the best sound? I've seen vids of yours with the tubi and it sounds epic but the jc weldfab sounds amazing. Not sure if they use a h or x pipe though

My tubi had a h pipe. I cant say what the difference is like as I changed many things at the same time.
I know Ross did some testing with JCWF on his B8 whici ncluded swapping H for X to see the difference.

For me and the reason I asked was more around not wanting to do a cheap job. I don't want to cut corners to save a few quid, it was not to try and squeeze out extra power.

In that case it is like I said, no x or h pipe will make it the same as it is now. If you are not after power then stick with straight through pipes, no need to complicate it for nothing.

Of course! That would be the only honest thing to do, together with letting them know that someone "stole" my front plate! :)

So I cut out the resonator over the weekend and to be honest I was expecting a little bit more. I was expecting more crackle and a deeper tone (valves disconnected).I'll be gutting the precats so we'll see if that makes a difference otherwise I will have to look into a JC Weldfab......

Thanks dude! Looking forward to getting it back tonight!

I was driving around the wifey's golf over the weekend, wishing I had my RS back already for the exhaust noise!

In case any of you guys haven't seen it:

Also, a couple of clips when the car had a modified OEM system, with precats deleted, an x-pipe, and valves stuck open:

Hard to pay attention to my car with David's R8 in this vid, but if you listen really really carefully....
