Also if I need replacements do they come colour coded as the ones on eBay appear to all be black?

As for paint, I went ro halfords got the paint match ( spray paint ) already had a tin of primer (£1 for poundland ) & also a clear laquer. Then a light coat of each. Came out good :thumb:

+1

After a downpour earlier this week enough crud bounced off the concrete I was parked on to cover the sensors in a thin layer and the instant I went into reverse the sensors did a continuous beep.Washing them sorted the problem instantly.

No need to remove - you can see the groove that needs to be clear on the outside.
Careful use of here ash usually does the trick but not to harsh as they are fragile.

I've read that a few times and it still doesn't make any sense to me! :)

So the sensors can be removed by levering them out carefully?

also need to be careful painting them or if you have had any paintwork done. one layer of paint on the sensor properly done is fine but if you paint them again the extra layer of paint can mess the sensors up too. pretty sure that's one of the things they say about checking on ELSAWIN when sensors are malfunctioning. (that and dirt, number plate not sitting flush on mounting plinth etc)

Look at the sensor - you will see an outer ring and an smaller circle.
The outer ring is a mounting frame used to fix the sensor to the car.
The inner circle is like a speaker cone - it oscillates very fast in the sensor frame to generate the ultrasonic waves.
If there is crud in the groove/slot between the movable sensor circle and the outer frame then this can disrupt the generation of the waves. You don't need to remove the sensors

CheeRS Ads! I'll give this a go :beerchug:  . Now its all coming to light. My rear sensors stopped working after I had my rear bumper repainted several weeks ago, however would this also have caused the fronts to stop working as well, or maybe they also need a clean out?

Guys
I have tried cleaning each of the rear sensors by getting my thumbnail and going around the inner circle groove, however no joy :bash: :bash:

Is it advisable to use a small flathead screwdriver and gently go round the inner circle groove? Also when I put the car in to reverse the led flashes but I don't get the beep?? Its really p1ssing me off as I nearly reversed in to a post the other day so desperately want these back working :rocker:

Wonder if it's worth doing a VCDS scan to see if they are any fault codes on the parking sensor?

Well the cheap £16 sensor from ebay actually works. No error codes now and both front and back sensors are operating correctly again.

You will need to buy paint and lacquer as well if it is not one of the inner front ones that are faulty.

Bringing this one back, are the OEM sensors the same front and rear?
