Can anyone tell me if you can disable the tyre pressure warning system using Vagcom?
Thanks!

It can be done, I have never done it and would never do it to my own car.

You can disable the warnings appearing on the DIS, but you don't need VCDS to do that as you can do that from the DIS menu.

You can't disable the diagnostics on the TPMS itself though, even with VCDS.

Not sure you can disable the warning using the DIS when one of the batteries has filed, which is the most common reason for wanting to disable the system?

The following will disable the TPMS vis VCDS:

Select -> 17-Instruments -> Adaptation -> Channel 61.

Subtract 512 from whatever value you find there.

That's a diagnostics message, not a low or very low tyre pressure warning - so you can't disable that using the DIS (and I didn't say you could disable diagnostics, only warnings).

Out of interest why would you want to? I had a flat last week on the rear and am positive the early warning saved damage to my alloy wheel...

Thanks for all the replies gents!

It's not my car, I was asking on behalve of a mate. Warning was coming up after having his wheels refurbed, even though there was ample pressure there. Maybe only needs a reset then.

Thanks

Yes, it needs a reset. Almost certainly the wheels are on in different positions and that will cause a red warning. Just turn the ignition on, but don't start the engine, and you'll be able to do a TPMS "wheel change" on the DIS and it should go away.
