Realistically the power flap will be marginal to notice coke or no coke.

Bigger factors are cam change over and throttle limiter.

Thought it was the other way around, airbox flap only opens in 3rd gear onwards when there sufficient airflow? Full throttle and torque is knocked back until 3rd onwards, pretty useless for real world driving hence my MRC Tuning to get full pops when you actually need it,the kick is associated with the airbox flap opening so if youve lost it then it may well be a vacuam issue with the flap itself (mine suffered this) but carbon build up has the most effect in the high rpm range also according to my dyno plots

Thanks P_G - knew there was something else that happened at 5500rpm - throttle is restricted to 60% in first 3 gears until 5500rpm when 100% is provided. Same logic applies though.

Both my airbox flap and intake manifold flaps operate correctly under VAG-COM. The car used to have a quite pronounced kick at 5500rpm when I first got it 18 months ago, but alas no more - it disappeared several months ago and the power now feels totally linear right up to the red line.

Strange thing is it still pulls a c 8.2s time for the 3000rpm tp 8000rpm test.....

Air box also opens at 5500 or over a high speed (100 mph or so) irrespective of gear.

You can still have a vac leak even though the tests are ok. The only way to confirm is to hook a vac/boost gauge and take some readings.

I lost the 'kick' after 5,500 and turns out the solenoid that controls the airbox flap was cracked and leaking vacuum... Exhaust flaps were still working fine and manifold flaps were passing the test sometimes and failing on other tests.

Well thats strange because i lost my 5500 rpm kick a while ago, fittes a Gruppe M and it didnt return but yet done a full carbon clean, didnt change the one way valve under manifold so only a carbon clean and my 5500 rpm kick returned and is proven also by my recent map done by doug at MRC, so carbon clean=5500rpm kick :biggrin3:
sorry forgot to mention my stage 2 ported manifold with flaps removed and vains left connected but ported but my kick is still there where as before carbon clean it wasnt, also the Gruppe M bypasses the airbox flap!

I've said this before; Log timing (and rpm/air temp/timing correction) and you will see what is going on. Cheers

Provided ALL the other conditions are correct too - it really isn't as simple as just carbon clean.
