Possible to have the power outlet turn off automatically?

Post by Spurian » Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:05 am

The cigarette lighter under the armrest stays on when the car is turned off. Is there a way to change it so that when I turn off the car, the charger will also turn off? I use it for my mp3 player which pauses/suspends when the power is cut. Thanks

Only by rewiring it.

Better to do as Tartan-Rob says and add a switched feed for your MP3 player - I did that for my Pogo Alert.

You might be able to do it with Vag-Com, have a look on the Ross-Tech website

Would the dealer have to do the switched power feed? Also what is Audi docking station? I use a Zune which probably is less compatible than iPods.

No, any decent auto-electrician can do it.
