Secondary Air Pump

Post by S25MRS » Sat Sep 27, 2008 3:09 pm

Anyone know what noises I can expect in the bearings are on their way out? Assume it would be a whirring noise of some sort (all through rev range?) but surely only until engine's warmed up?

About to have the belt/tensioner changed on mine, but wondered about the Sec Air pump at same time?

Any other possible causes of a whirring noise at all revs that I should investigate?

On my 2003 B6 S4, by the way,

Cheers

My secondary air pump is fairly noisey, however only on cold start up. Perfectly normal IMO

Yes secondary air pump will only come on start-up to lean out the mixture.

I would have just thought, you get all the tensioners and rollers replaced on the timing belt side, the drive/aux belt tensioner, and water pump aswell.
