In fact I didn't have chain rattle on longlife, I do on 5w40??? I didn't expect this, in fact most people report that change to 5w40 can eliminate chain rattle, no produce it. Bit confused by this.

I'm having my engine, gearbox and rear diff oils done this week. Along with brake fluid and fitting my sump guard. Be interesting to see the difference the fresh gear oils make

The gearbox fluid change was very noticeable on mine but it's still notchy as hell so I'm gonna pick up the JHM short-shifter soon.

2 things, Audi longlife isn't ester-based. It's stopped now

The gearbox fluid change was very noticeable on mine but it's still notchy as hell so I'm gonna pick up the JHM short-shifter soon.

From my experience of short shifters, they will make the amplify any notchiness in the gear change so fitting may make the symptoms worse.
