Why is my car making rubbish power??
367 whp, 415 torque on the RR today.
For those of you dont know my set up is:
K04/06 hybrids
FMIC
Fuelling.
Remap.
Havent got the Thorney RR numbers to hand, but I think it was similar WHP but maybe 450 torque. At the time it had an ETG and overboost error code.
Today no error codes on the run, though I did get one since driving home.
did a quick log, boost seems okay to me, can anyone comment on any of it?
Getting my a$$ kicked by plain jane K04's, tempted to out the car in the bin at this rate.

can I have 1st refusal before you put it in the compactor
)
RR's can be dodgy , there are too many variables and some of these guys I am guessing may be on k04's but have done a few other things to improve their results. be good to see all your graphs from the day

Yeah sorry forgot to mention, Ive got ported and polished manifolds, and custom turbo back exhaust, no cats, approx 2.75" bore.
Fuel pump is bosch motorsport (mrc supplied)
Injectors 700cc (mrc supplied)
uprated clutch
Am still using S4 MAF, but have heard that doesnt affect power.

Do you have any FATs data. I find rolling roads useless TBH. How FAST is the car?
I have K04's(P&P ed), lowered compression, RS4 IC's and a load of other stuff and think my car is slow
(relative to others) as well. My best FATs is about 3.8 which I think is about .5 too slow for my mods.
I am slower than a lot of plain jane K04s as well.

That torque curve looks way too flat. Sounds like the car may be choking and not breathing for whatever reason... exhaust maybe? Your torque curve should keep rising till about 5k.
Could be as simply as a bad tank of fuel causing timing to be held back.
Hybrid cars quite often seem to play up with power figures, that is why I avoided that route and stuck with the modded K04 route.
Biggest thing I think is the manifolds and exhaust... that is where you can see 60-80HP increase. Sad to say engine out and stupid money. Big thanks to Mihnea who spent 20 mins on the phone convincing me to get the manifolds.

Sorry guys if im being completed retarded here (having only just learnt what a spanner looks like!) But i was advised that the bore should be 3"? therefore docs bore being 2.75" ........ is this a consideration or are you all just rolling on the floor and laughing at what i just said?????dr_wimpkins wrote:Yeah sorry forgot to mention, Ive got ported and polished manifolds, and custom turbo back exhaust, no cats, approx 2.75" bore.
it is a single 2.75" - you could hear that restriction from outside - BUT - it runs good boost and maf and more importantly it is fast when you are in it or even trying to keep up with it - he pulled from me ont he way there.

aah yes but surely if it was making the numbers, it would be faster !!
Could well be the single bore at the back of the exhaust thats the issue, been planning to change that.
I need to check the WHP between the latest RR and Thorney last year, as nothing has changed on the car expect that there were no error codes on the run yesterday.
Has anyone who went to thorney compared the whp numbers (for those that didnt change the engine spec) Would be interesting to see how the 2 relate.
