Things You Could Move or Remove!

I was thinking about things you could move in the car or get rid of & the pros & cons of them.

Can we put together a decent list in a standard format?

Description: Battery to spare wheel well
Pros: 10kg moved back & lowered - better weight distribution & lower C of G

Description: Spare Wheel
Pros: Weight Loss
Cons: No spare but replace with a AA card or can of tyre weld
Parts Required: nothing
Cost Parts (h): nothing
Cost Labour (h): 2 minutes

not alot to move ... just remove i'd say
If you remove all interior then the battery move to the boot will take about 30mins .... :lol:

Take you a day to lighten everything else tho ..? :roll:
pro's: lighter & no passengers
con's: no radio & difficult to start after a rear shunt ...

Cant see the point to move anything ... cars designed how it is .. unless yr going really radical ... 1/4 mile stripster or such ..?
everythings wedged in nicely... ok lose ac rad for big fmic etc .. wot else though ?..? :lol:

ac is more like 10kg max but it is all over the nose

Description: Fold down rear seats
Pros: Lower centre of gravity, much improved 0-60 & handling
Cons: Not that comfortable for rear passengers
Parts Required: None
Cost Parts (h): Nil
Cost Labour (h): 30-40 seconds.

It seemed to make a difference on my car :D

fit ultraleggeras around 8.1kg standard 12.7kg x4 then x 2 for rotational weight saving about 34KG

Description: er, you remove the back seats
Pros: they weigh a lot. Less passengers screaming at you.
Cons: drone from exhaust might be louder.
Parts Required: a socket set
Cost Parts (h): 0
Cost Labour (h): 1

Move/Remove: engine covers
Description: Remove all the plastic crap on top of the engine.
Pros: you can get to your engine now.
Cons: None whatsoever. The covers are totally pointless.
Parts Required: screwdriver or a twenty pence piece
Cost Parts (h): 0
Cost Labour (h): 0.1

Move/Remove: Horns
Description: Move the horns, the audible type that is
Pros: You can now fit a bigger oil cooler where the SMIC used to be
Cons: none.
Parts Required: bracket and some bolts
Cost Parts (h): 5
Cost Labour (h): 0.5

Move/Remove: undertray
Description: put the engine undertray in the bin
Pros: 5 to 10 degrees lower oil in the sump temp
Cons: engine gets splashed by puddles if you hit water
Parts Required: none
Cost Parts (h): 0
Cost Labour (h): 0.1
S4 - no longer missing 1 engine. Last seen leaving trailing black lines of gearbox oil.

Pros: Less weight, less chance of being arrested, less flies buzzing round car
Cons: None whatsoever.
Parts Required: Bin bags
