nice work, look forward to more updates.

How well are the manifolds matched in standard form?

the exhaust manifold is very poor,i have removed a good 3 mm all the way round from each mani exhaust port, should help flow slightly better, inlet doesnt look too bad although there is a fair amount which could be removed on both the head and manifold,im not going that far though

I evn think in that Audi tech guide issued in 01/98 also called self study program 198 it shows the main caps four bolted....
and the middle two are cross bolted too!

bottom end looks pretty tough all helps to stop the block twisting i guess, just the standard rods which let it down

nice of you to take the time and do the pics....
its interesting to see a project from the start and useful to know the ins and outs of a rebuild on a car that we run.
i have rebuilt a few lumps in me time but never thought about the S4 cus its so reliable...
do you have info on torque settings and is it easy to get info on tolerences and tech stuff.
keep up the good work.

im only doing the internals so i can push more boost without having to worry about banana shaped rods, got all the torque settings etc,its a reasonably straightforward engine to work on,patience is the key though best not to rush anything on it or its engine back out again

Wow youve cleaned that up well! Or is it new parts all rounds? Cam covers and main block look really clean! What bhp and torque you going for? and what spec are you making it? I.e turbos, intercoolers, injectors, FP, clutch ect.

gave it a good clean up,loads of new bits,k04 hybrids, ported manifolds,no cats, lower compression, rods from dahlback,fmic,water/ methanol injection, as well as nitrous, already has 10 bar fuel pump and bigger injectors, was running around the 400bhp previously,no idea what it will run at with this concoction though :)
