Mihnea did his thing with the laptop again and after 2/2.5 hours we had made little progress but plenty of head scratching. In a bid to resolve the surging he disabled lambda correction (Mihnea - jump in when I start talking poo) :? . The car turned into a complete animal with the manners of the queen  . What a difference, she is pulling good timing, running smoothly, no surging and no bad off throttle jumping.....I'm taking the car for a gas analysis in August to see how she'll cope with an MoT without Lambda, that gives Mihnea time to research the Lambda issue.

As for performance, I have not really done any measurements but before I got there, she ran approx 140 up the hill...remember that was before Lambda turned off and car is running better now.....FATs time was very approx 3.5sec....not bad for a 1.9Tdi :D

I'll try and post some times this weekend....
Hi Rob

Im building a similar car to that of Tartan Robs. Hopefully he will correct me if Im wrong.

If I remember correctly his car was running

RS4 IC's.

K04 hybrids with the RS6 compressor wheel. (Ill be running an upgraded version of those wheels so can run more boost.

Lowered Compression

RS4 Clutch

S4 modded Air box

RS4 turbo inlets

S4 Y pipe

RS4 MAF

Gutted Precats RS4 downpipes , Not sure about exhaust but I cant remember it being an RS4 Milltek. I think it was standard Milltek.

I've actually thought about trying something a little different. I'm loving having my turbos ready by 1800 rpm. I'm giving serious thought to working towards having K04/K16 or K04/K26 with some hot-side work done that will lower when the boost is available, with a sacrifice on how much boost is available, so that the car continues to drive without massive lumps in the power band. I quite like that, and having been in jeffw's rs4, I got to experience a car that actually does that. One day.. one day, I'd love that sort of power wit hthe same sort of driveability. I would sacrifice top end for that. I have a partial list of what was done, but parts are secret to MTM.

Did Rob have the lowered compression and RS4 maf?

Isn't dropping the compression necessary at those sort of boost levels, to avoid having a 2.7 litre grenade?

Someone off here bought it. And to think I was this close (pinches fingers together and cries a little) to buying it before I bought the money pit!

Yes it did definitely have dropped compression, and a Milltek Dual catback (S4 one). Not sure about the RS4 MAF.

Similar to my car then. I'm running:

RS4 Dowpipes (gutted pre-cats)
Milltek Dual
RS4 clutch
RS4 IC's
RS4 MAF, Airbox, Y pipe
MRC injectors
MRC intake pipes
Ported and TIG welded stock manifolds.
Lowered CR.
K04's with P&P inlet and hotside.

Not running great at the moment though :-(. Off to MRC tomorrow to hopefully get
it sorted.

Whats up with it Jon?

How much has the CR been lowered by and what method?
