Help!! Changing Analog to Digital Cluster !
Help!! Changing Analog to Digital Cluster !
Hi all ! I have a 99.5 facelifted S4, but with the analog clock, and I just found a cluster from a newer S4 with the new logo and digital clock, can I put this cluster in my car ?

Not sure, but I think the newer car runs CAN Gateway, whcih means no. If you can do it, let me know. I'll do the same. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can comment...?

I assume you mean the digital clock from the 2000/2001 facelift B5 S4. I'm sure the B5 doesn't run CAN, so I reckon it would work... but don't hold me to that one.

Yes the B5 does have CAN. Note that there is not CAN or No-CAN, there are are several degrees of CAN. The B5 facelift has 3 CAN buses with different speeds/protocols according to what they are used for. The B6 and B7 have more use of CAN (and maybe more buses, I don't know).
However Audi made lots of things backward compatible, so the new cluster will have CAN and the old bus system (CLK & DATA).
So yes you can make it work, but I don't know how much effort is required to do so...
