As the title suggests can you fit wider rear wheels on an S4 quattro if the rolling cirumference of the wheel and tyre were matched front to back ?
For example could you have deeper dished rear wheels on a quattro vehicle or will it dammage the drive system ?
Thanks.....

Yes, needs to be pretty damn accurate matching aswell.pegbox7 wrote:As the title suggests can you fit wider rear wheels on an S4 quattro if the rolling cirumference of the wheel and tyre were matched front to back ?
I wouldnt like to say it wouldnt and then you went and did it and it did damage your car. Ive never risked it.pegbox7 wrote:For example could you have deeper dished rear wheels on a quattro vehicle or will it dammage the drive system ?

what is the reason for this ?
It used to be the same on the skylines that there was always this mtyh that all 4 tyres had to be changed together so that tread depths were the same that it didn't alter the rolling circumference, it even matters which tyres you use if this was the case as they differ in tread depth !
Does this mean you have to match exactly make and tread depth front to rear to make sure the quattro system is not dammaged ?
If not then surely you can alter tyre widths as long as the rolling circumference is the same front and rear ?
I have always wanted to know a difinative answer to this question....
