Have intended to do this ever since I bought my S4.

Internet archive has a copy, albeit without the excellent photos he took.

Thankfully google cache did a better job, i have since saved this

I was looking at doing this to my Jan '99 (pre facelift) S4, does the car have to have the 'drive-by-wire' system and if so is my car as such?
If it would work i'm tempted to buy that kufatek kit just for ease of install.

I thought all S4s were DBW. I bought the KUFATEC loom and it was a snip.

interestingly google doesnt cache images. Those images are coming from the original website.

I wonder why he's taken down the text itself but not the pics?

It might be worthwhile emailing the guy and asking permission to host the Archived copy somewhere else?

just copy and paste both into a thread. change the wording slightly, I'll take some pics when i do mine soon, edit the thread, theres a permanent record and we're covered from copyright.

PM a guy on here called GRIDDERS. For £5 he will send you a CD with full instructions and pics - well worth it.

Rich's guide is good, but note the part numbers for the wire/connectors are the wrong way around.
  • 000 979 117 is round connector for the 6 pin cruise stalk connector so you need 3 of these.
000 979 012 is the small male pins for the ECU connection so you only need 2 of these.
Ended up with my interior in bits for a week waiting on one more 000 979 117 from Vag Parts as I was short two pins in the stalk connector.

Also note a T55 Torx (6 spline) works in place of the M12 (12 spline) for the steering wheel bolt. A lot easier to get hold of (I already had one in my toolbox).

I'm in North London and happy to give anyone a hand with this. Bought Vag-Com especially to enable it when I fitted it a few months back. :D
