Help.. K&N vs Pipercross vs BMC
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Help.. K&N vs Pipercross vs
Honest answer is I dunno Jimbo - all I know is that my car runs great with the BMC, and I have no MAF problems.
From what I remember of the graph plots comparing the filters the BMC curve was above all of the others pretty much across the entire rev range (i.e. it showed higher g/s flow)
Works well for me and Paz .... will it work for you? ... who knows!

Hardly a guinea pig ... me and Paz both have one already! (and Phil has one on order)
Good idea to do some logs - be good to see if your measurements show a higher flow than the paper.
There's a link further back in this thread to an online seller of BMC filters - if you order today you may get next day delivery ... other than that I wouldn't know where to get one.

If IPA is Carb Cleaner then yes! or thats what ive been using. Generally change air filter and clean MAF every 5k the the oem paper version as with holes in the airbox it gets dirty pretty quick. Can you clean the BMC version, because replacing that on such a regular basis would prove expensive.S4TAN wrote:Got any IPA spray to clean your MAF sensor first Jim?
@ Graham will definately post results ASAP
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Help..
You sure can - and you wouldn't need to replace as often as a paper filter anyway. Can you clean the BMC version, because replacing that on such a regular basis would prove expensive.

Was getting around 220g/s before, now around 227g/s.
So, a 7g/s improvement from dirty paper to clean BMC and 7g/s (thank you Julian) improvement from dirty paper to clean paper filter.jimbogrey wrote:achieved a peak maf of 274 g/s and a fats of 4.49 with a new oem paper filter!!! Interestingly peak maf with the old dirty filter was 267 so a 9BHP difference.
Perhaps someone should do a comparison with a brand new paper filter versus one of these panel filters...

Since when did 267>274 = an increase of 9? I make it 7 ... or has maths changed since I were a lad?
Think Doug already did that!Perhaps someone should do a comparison with a brand new paper filter versus one of these panel filters...

My paper airfilter wasn't that dirty either.... was only replaced 6 months ago.

7g/s = 9BHP approx.......should have gone to specsaversS4TAN wrote:Since when did 267>274 = an increase of 9? I make it 7 ... or has maths changed since I were a lad?
