Ferodo DS2500 Brake pads

Post by S4Jem » Thu Mar 01, 2007 2:31 pm

Hi....

Does anyone know whether these brake pads will fit on stock calipers for 17" wheels.

Have tried everywhere, but no-one appears to know. Seems most retailers are aware of these pads fitting S3's or s6's but not S4's.

Also, anyone know where I can hold of a set of these if there are any specifically for a standard S4 ?

Mucho gracias

S4Jem,

It might be worth giving Hi-spec a call as I discussed several options with them and I have a feeling that the ferodo pads we're rather expensive. I was going to put EBC yellows on mine but unfortunatly EBC havnt got any front pads available and it was going to be a month before they had any.

Just my thoughts

Cheers

EBC reds are the only EBC pad I would use.

Yellows are better IMHO have used both on my previous car and the reds are very agressive on disks, yellows are kinder to the disks and stop you better. They are a true race compound, have a look at the EBC site for more info.

I had a long chat with Hi-spec about which pads to use and as I'm putting EBC turbo grooved disc's on EBC was the obvious choice then came the choice of yellow and red and yellow was decided on because of the performance of our cars, Unfortunatly they wont have any yellows for the front for at least a month as EBC have none in stock, so i had to go for red as i need to change my disc's as the rears have corroded and the fronts are nicely worn

Just my tuppance worth

Having said Red is the only EBC pad I would use I should have also said I wouldn't use EBC unless no other option. I've seen what green and yellow does to the disc's. I though red was better, maybe not...

I take it all back on the EBC yellows. It was Pagid yellows that were bad http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=56317

Pagid have an excellent reputation IMO, you can't say the yellows are bad, they are a track pad and will not work well from cold. Very hard on discs too, horses for courses really.

As far as EBC goes - No no no. Have a look in my gallery.

Spent some time at Hi Spec on saturday and after a lot of time considering the options, have decided to go with:-

OEM Discs @ £40 each and have these machine grooved by Hi Spec @ £25 a disc

Cannot get hold of the Ferodo pads for a S4, so have decided to go for the EBC Yellow pads option...the discs and pads seem to be the best compromise.

Was very tempted though to go with their monster 4/6 pot set up...what a lovely piece of kit to hold in your hands and in different colours !!! :D . Bit cheeky of them, but I managed to get away without buying them

No, however, they did not contact EBC to confirm if the pads were in stock. so nothing unusual going on.

S4Jem,

I ordered front & rear EBC turbo grooved disc's & EBC yellows, when I chased them up to find out whe they would be in I was told that EBC had no Yellows pads for ours and that it would be a month before EBC made another batch, hence I ended up going for the reds as they were available.

As a side note I've just fitted My disc's & pads today so it's bed in time & so far so good, although I found one of the rubber dust covers on the rear calipers has a hole it in so gotta replace that as well now.

Next time your over let me give me a shout It'll be nice to say Hi
