RE: Re: RE: S4 key recoding
yeah, basically the metal part that holds the blade into the key snapped.
RE: Re: RE: S4 key recoding
as said before then, just get a new blade off ebay £2.99, get it cut for about £10, knock the pin out replace with new blade, re-insert pin. Job Done

I think there is possibly a misunderstanding developing here, if I understand correctly:
1. fletchie55 has a damaged switchblade key fob, that several of us have been refering to as a transponderd.
2. He has aquired a new switchblade key fob and wants to fit his old undamaged key (Switchblade / transponder is damaged) to this then reprogramme it to the car.
Hence my post:
An Audi Stealer will charge you approx £50 (No less) to sort this out for you or alternatively you could try:
1. Have a new blank key cut and have them fit it to your new - not working transponder.
2. Jury rig your old key together - tape or whatever you can use.
Then try the instructions in my post.

Yes he did say that, but has since said that it was just the metal part that broke so that is all that needs replacing. If it was only the blade, not the part the blade plugs in to. If it is indead the part it plugs into then it's a trip to the dealers for the transponder recode and follow the instructions on here to sync the remote locking buttonsMCB wrote:I think there is possibly a misunderstanding developing here, if I understand correctly:

Hi Chaps,
I have some pics of the key sections, will post tomorow,
It is quite easy to move the blade and "transponder" from one front part of the key to the other. There is a small screw under the audi symbol to take the front part of the key to bits. If you want the shiny new front part of the key, dig out the two transponders (small fragile glass tubes) and swap them over.
btw , a transponder is a passive aerial and transmitter that is excited by RF energy and transmits by converting the Radio Freq energy to D/C power!
Nige.
