Electric RS6

Post by nekrum » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:03 am

Hi all,

Now when I bought the RS last year I wasn't really thinking about the environment but mine, over the last few days has turned in a milk float..

I'm assuming that it's down the cold weather but was wondering if anyone else is having this, I'm getting a constant loud whining noise - does it both in and out of drive. Is this the steering pump?.. Is this normal in cold weather or do I need to be checking something out?..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.. Thanks..

The gearbox will squeal if the ATF is low as the pump cavitates (like the power steering pump will cavitate if the fluid is low).

Thanks Shoppinit, is there a way to check the ATF fluid level or is it a case of changing it to make sure? (the box is under a year old and the gear change is okay) was planning to do annually anyway but it's not due until April.
