Does it sound like it's coming from the inside or outside? It's not the exhaust knocking against something is it (it expands when hot)?

When the milltek gets hot it expands, it can knock if not fitted wright.

You should not be able to bounce the car up and down. Sounds like the dreaded DRC failure has been wretched upon you.

i take it is not a rythmic knocking, rather than intermittent?

suggest exhaust (check by wiggling the tailpipe when hot) or cat.

It could be a anti roll bar link .

I had an anti-roll bar bolt fail ages ago, that knocked... simple bolt and all was good.

Almost certain to be the exhaust hitting the rear subframe, where the pipe does its dogleg. Mine does exactly the same and I will eventually get round to having it bent a little further to correct it. Think I have a slightly inaccurate midsection pipe.
